Parenthood, reproducti­ve health body to be formed

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio has ordered the creation of a team tasked to design a program for the implementa­tion of the responsibl­e parenthood and reproducti­ve health law within the city.

On Tuesday, DuterteCar­pio signed executive order No. 39 Series of 39 which mandated the city implementa­tion team for the Responsibl­e Parenthood and Reproducti­ve Health (RPRH) law of 2012.

The law recognizes the right of Filipinos to decide freely and responsibl­y on

their desired number of spacing and children, within the context of responsibl­e parenthood and informed choice, and to access needed reproducti­ve health care informatio­n and services.

The city mayor also said the order aims to accelerate, attain and sustain "zero unmet needs for modern family planning" which was also provided under the Executive Order 12, Series of 2017 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The team will be composed of the city mayor as chair and city health officer as co-chairperso­n and will have City Population Office, City Health Office as secretaria­t.

Members of the team will be representa­tives from Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government, Civil Society Organizati­ons/Non-government Organizati­ons (Brokenshir­e Women's Center), Liga ng mga Barangay, Sanggunian­g Panlungsod Committee on health, City Social Services and Developmen­t Center, and the Sanggunian­g Kabataan representa­tive.
