Cebu hosts PNG
MANILA - Preparations are underway for Cebu City and Cebu Province's hosting of the Philippine National Games on December 10 to 17.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Butch Ramirez led the PNG coordination meeting at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex yesterday and reiterated the agency’s commitment in supporting grassroots sports as he addressed coaches and technical officials attending the meeting.
"Thank you for being here and lending your time and skills," the PSC chief said as he expressed his gratitude for the relentless support and participation of coaches, technical officials and athletes from different sports associations.
Ramirez explained that "deepening the hold of grassroots sports will pave the way for larger developments in the country’s push for sports development."
The agency is set to conduct different activities across the country like the upcoming Batang Pinoy Games in Vigan this month, Children’s Games, Indigenous Games, as well as cooperation with the Department of Education for a bigger and better Palarong Pambansa. Next week, a conclave of collegiate sports stakeholders is set in Pasig City with the prospect of forming a unified association for sports in the university level.
“If we do something, let us do it the best we could. Let us make a great edition of the PNG and discover the hidden gems in our youth,” he added.
The PNG was last held in Pangasinan in March 2016.
