4th CABANTIAN WOMEN'S FEDERATION ANNIVERSARY
The Cabantian Women's Federation holds its 4th Women’s Anniversary with the theme "Women with Healthy Mind and Body, contribute to the Success of the Community," today, October 16.
The anniversary is part of the celebration of its 23rd Araw ng Barangay Cabantian, Buhangin District Davao City.
Beverly Besin Ornopia, Cabantian Women's Federation President, said that during the anniversary, they will showcase a cooking contest and parlor games.
The 19 chapters of the federation will hold a three-minute role play presentation which illustrates a good family relationship, Zumba for their physical fitness program, and orientation seminar about women empowerment on women's issues supported by the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO).
"We will continue to develop our livelihood that will help our women in Barangay Cabantian," Ornopia, who has been the president for the federation’s four-year term, said.
The federation's livelihood programs include but not limited to fabric conditioners and liquid dishwashing-making, Baboyan Project and Bigasan, the budget of which comes from barangay lending.
Ornopia added that every month of May and June they conduct an outreach program delivering free bags with school supplies to selected schools. Aside from this, each chapter also participates in a feeding program.
"We come up with our projects together with the help of our second District Congresswoman, Mylene GarciaAlbano," added Ornopia who is also an officer in the Citywide Women's Federation.
The federation strengthened and improved with the support of CSSDO, under the supervision of Barangay Captain Nilo Cabiles, the barangay committee on Health, Women, Children, Elderly and Family, Kagawad Daisy Regidor, Kgd. Richlyn Justo, Kgd. Joselito Ongcay, Kgd. Arnold Morado, Kgd. Arnold Nuega, Kgd. Lamberto Cagatin and Kgd. Nestos Cangmaong.
