Sirawan coop receives new business tools
SUNSHINE Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative (Sufamco) recently received a brand new computer unit from Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (AFI) and AboitizPower subsidiary Therma South, Inc. (TSI).
Sufamco is AFI and TSI’s partner cooperative based in Barangay Sirawan, Toril, Davao City. The cooperative set up a local bakery after five of its members acquired National Certificate (NC) II on Baking and Pastry last January 2017 through a training program sponsored by Aboitiz Foundation.
“Thank you sa Aboitiz Foundation and Therma South dahil kung hindi sa tulong ninyo, malamang ay hindi lalago ng ganito ang aming kooperatiba (Thank you to Aboitiz Foundation and Therma South, Inc., if it weren’t for your help our cooperative would not be as successful),” said Menrado Intong, Sufamco General Manager.
“This assistance to Sufamco is aligned with our goal of advancing business and communities. It is very encouraging to help Sufamco even more because we can see your hard work and dedication in making the cooperative more productive and sustainable,” said Jennifer Sabianan, Aboitiz Foundation Manager for Enterprise Development.
The computer turnover is a sequel to the bakery equipment turnover between TSI, Aboitiz Foundation, and Sufamco last June 2017. In addition to the computer donation, TSI team members also provided technical assistance to the cooperative members by teaching them basic Microsoft Office suite skills.
“More than us helping you, I think the best asset of your cooperative are your leaders that proactively find ways to bring the cooperative to a heightened sense of purpose,” said Jason Magnaye, TSI Manager for Reputation and Stakeholder Management, lauding the dedication of Sufamco’s leaders.
