THE regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea 11) said there are some 10 active narco-politicians in Davao region.

PDEA 11 officer-incharge regional director Naravy D. Duquiatan said on Wednesday that they are conducting close surveillance on the illegal activities of these narcopoliticians operating in Davao region.

However, she refused to divulge their identity so as not to preempt their ongoing monitoring.

"Based on our intelligence report, there are still narco-politicians operating in Davao region," she said.

Daquiatan said that they are still in the process of gathering enough evidences to back their claims for proper filing of cases before the court.

"For apprehension, it depends on the situation if the evidence is enough that it is due for neutralization then we will conduct anti-drug

operation," Duquiatan said.

Earlier, last September 3, a narco-politician identified as Fatima Daud Baliwan alias Timaw, 44, a village chairperson and president of the Association of Barangay Captains of Northern Kabuntalan town, Maguindanao was arrested by authorities in Davao City.

She was caught in a buybust operation inside a house at Woodridge Subdivision in Maa, Davao City.
