PCSO turns over P251-K to city

-

THE Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) turned over the three percent share from the P8.3 million revenue of Small Town Lottery (STL) to the city government of Davao for the month of September amounting to P251,000.

PCSO chairman Jose Jorge E. Corpuz, during the Sama-samang Talakayan at Linawan yesterday at the Royal Mandaya Hotel, turned over the check to the city governFORMER ment, which was received by assistant city administrator Lawyer Lawrence Batinding.

Based on their 2016 revised implementing Rules and Regulations, PCSO, is mandated to allocate three percent of the income of the revenue to the city.

In her message delivered by Batindig, Davao City Mayor Sara DuterteCarpio expressed her appreciation for the check

given by PCSO that will further help in assisting indigent citizens in the city.

"I would like to thank the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for its generous donation to the city in the form of the LGU's share of the Small Town Lottery (STL) operations in the city," he said.

She also cited that efforts to curb illegal gambling by the local authorities have increased PCSO's revenue, which mans additional medical assistance to more Filipinos in the country.

"This amount will go a long way helping to ensure especially those living from the city center receive the quality service they need," she said.

Meanwhile, Corpuz said there is a 35 percent increase in revenue of STL nationwide after the establishment of 79 Authorized Agent Corporations (AACs) this year from 15 in 2016.

STL fund generation has increased by 147.22% to P9.2 billion from January to September this year as compared to the same period last year at P3.7 billion. The increase was attributed to the intensified crackdown to illegal gambling by the law enforcers. JCR (For full story visit www. sunstar.com.ph/davao/)
