Former soldier killed in ops

AN ex-soldier tagged as a high-value drug personalit­y was killed in an operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (Pdea) and Tagum City Police last Wednesday afternoon.

Roel Sahiron, an exmilitary officer, was killed yesterday after the search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Arlene Palabrica of Regional Trial Court 31, of Tagum City was enforced by authoritie­s.

Pdea 11 officerin-charge Naravy D. Duquiatan, in an interview yesterday, said that Sahiron was a former member of the Philippine Army and he was

also considered as high-value personalit­y.

She added that Sahiron had pending R.A. 9165 violation and robbery cases in Trento, Agusan del Sur.

She added that the operation, which took place around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Block 15, Lot 3, Camelia Homes, Barangay Visayan Village, Tagum City, also led to the arrest of Marila Shalika February, also known as "Madam", female, 39 years old.

Duquiatan added that recovered from "Madam" were three grams of suspected shabu with a value of P6,000 and pseudoephe­drine, a controlled drug for asthma worth P28,000.

Duquiatan said that confiscate­d pseudoephe­drine tablets can only be sourced abroad since only liquid form of the drug is available in the Philippine­s.

Assorted drug parapherna­lia and firearms, caliber 22 pistol, caliber 38 revolver and several ammunition­s were also confiscate­d from the arrested suspect. KVC
