Acosta Cup football kicks off Sunday

THE 14th Acosta Cup open ladies football tournament will open on Sunday at the Tionko field.

Lou Jane Bulaclac, chief-of-staff of Davao Councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta, during the Davao Sportswrit­ers Associatio­n (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao yesterday, said the bootfest that will run from October 22 to December 17. It is an initiative of Councilor Acosta who aims to promote and develop sports among female players and soccer enthusiast­s in the city.

Bulaclac added that five teams, endorsed by the Davao-South Regional Football Associatio­n (DRFA), are seeing action in the annual event including the D' Davao Survivors (DDS), Sikat Alab, SOYA, Philippine College of Technology (PCT) and University of the Philippine­s (UP) Mindanao.

Bulaclac said Councilor Acosta will grace the simple ceremonial kick-off at 3 p.m. to be followed by the opening game between PCT and Sikat Alab.

UP Mindanao will collide with D'DS.
