Amanananggal, kapre or tiyanak could be right behind you as you navigate through the labyrinthine and spine-chilling trail inside Malagos Garden Resort’s Horror House.

“This year, our theme for Handuraw sa Baul will focus on the local culture and the arts that is why we’re giving the spotlight to Philippine mythology and superstitious beliefs in our activities including the highly anticipated Horror House and our Treats and Trivia Game,” said marketing officer Kirvy Waga during the Habi at Kapi press forum last Wednesday.

Handuraw sa Baul is the resort’s annual Halloween event happening on October 28, Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 midnight.

Aside from the Horror House, Handuraw will screen locally produced horror films from this year’s Ngilngig Film Camp, which was also hosted by Malagos Garden Resort.

“As a support to local artists, indie musicians CRWN, Jensen and the Flips, Clara Benin, Anne Mendoza, BP Valenzuela, RJ Manulid and She’s Only Sixteen will also be featured in this year’s Handuraw,” she added.

Handuraw will also feature family-bonding activities, such as their Calligraphy workshop by Spark, Neon Playhouse, Bounce City, Trick or Treat and Halloween costume contest for the kids. Food and beverages will also be sold by local tenants in the bazaar area.

“In Handuraw, we aim to bring families together for a night of music, games, film and food. With the participation of these very young and talented artists, we also hope to create an impact to the society on the importance of supporting local – from food, to products, to arts and everything in between," added Waga.

The resort will also be giving out discounted room rate packages exclusively for the Handuraw weekend. General admission is PhP 600 per person, inclusive an all-access to resort attractions, such as the first and only Chocolate Museum in the Philippines, swimming pool, petting zoo and bird feeding dome.

“In Handuraw, we aim to bring families together for a night of music, games, film and food.
