City gears up security for Undas, Christmas
DAVAO City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio said, while the lifting of martial law has yet to be announced, a comprehensive security plan has already been placed in preparation for the big events within the city in the next two months.
Duterte-Carpio, after the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) meeting last Thursday October 19, 2017, told reporters that security and safety plans were aligned for the observance of the All Soul’s Day, All Saint’s Day, and also for the Christmas season activities.
“We have discussed the big events that will happen in Davao City from November and December. We made sure that all of these units of security and safety have individual plans and their individual plans are discussed in one group, and that they have comprehensive plan as a group,” she said.
During the CPOC, the Public Safety and Security Command Center representative informed that around 4,000 security and safety personnel will be deployed during the observance and preparation for the All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day.
Based on previous reports, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) last October 21 has started the deployment of personnel from their 12 stations in all cemeteries and areas of convergence within the city.

pan, last October 17, told reporters that a total of 1,800 police personnel will be deployed in all 58 public and private cemeteries in the city. Full deployment will be on October 30.
Likewise, two companysized personnel from the Police Regional Office’s (PRO) Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) will be added as force multipliers.
Aside from that, there will also be Volunteer Police Auxiliary, Task Force Davao, traffic groups, and other law enforcement units on November 1 and 2.
Gaspan emphasized that they will not only focus on cemeteries but also on vital installations, areas of convergence and strategic areas like airports, seaports, terminals, churches, and malls.
DCPO will also establish a Command post and Police Assistance Desk in key areas to cater to the concerns of the public.
Meanwhile, she reminded the public who are planning to visit the graves of their loved ones to refrain from bringing prohibited items like bladed weapon, firearms, alcoholic drinks or explosives.
Aside from the DCPO, the Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management Office last October 17, already posted on their Facebook page the proposed traffic re-routing schemes and parking assignments on the following major cemeteries in Davao City as part of the Office’s Oplan Kaluluwa preparation.
The Davao City Economic Enterprises (CEE) has already started the painting of fences and the construction of gateway arch on the different cemeteries located inside the city.
