KSMA gets 11 golds in Muaythai nat'l open

THE King's Sword Martial Arts (KSMA) emerged overall champion after hauling a total of 11 gold medals, one silver and four bronze medals in the recently-concluded Muaythai National Open 4th League Davao held at City Mall in Tagum City.

The gold medals came from former national team and playing coach Sharmaine Florece, Louise Jerome Cadag, Nathaniel Lumacang, Charis Delle Cunanan, Eusebio Tabilon, Jay Verdadero, Neil Van Udarbe, Sandi Beekhuizen, Mark John Montes, Jacob Taganas and Jahaziel Barbero, who competed in their respective categories.

David Morata is the lone silver medalist while Randyl Baluns Taojo, Jovith Jade Gempesan, Noel Villaflor and Fernan Piccio salvaged the bronze medals to help the Nell Jone Astudillo-mentored King's Sword finish with flying colors.

Astudillo, in a Facebook chat with Sun.Star Davao, said they dedicate their feat to God who gives them strength and inspiratio­n.

"Thank you also to people who support us and to the King's Sword coaching staff spearheade­d by Sharmaine Florece and Nicholas Adante," he said.

The team is back on training as they set their sight on the upcoming National Muay Thai championsh­ips in Manila set on November 1 to 13.

"We also prepare for the 2nd Mindanao Open Wushu Sanda championsh­ips on November 17 to 18 at the NCCC Mall of Davao," said Astudillo who kept on seeking for potential athletes while hoping to make Davao City a home of martial arts champions.
