Usep shows folk dance in Vietnam educ tour
THE University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) sent six Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE) students to an educational tour in Tan Trao University in Vietnam on September 24 to October 4, 2017.
As part of their SPE 109 subject or International Folk Dance, Raymond D. Aberia, Dona Clea M. Bastareche, Jasmine Jane G. Bongco, Noreen S. Duhaylungsod, Michael Andrei A. Sameon, and Yvonne Lape, together with Dr. Benjie Q. Badon as their head, represented the Philippines in a dance workshop showcasing the traditional dances of Asian countries such as the Philippines, Laos, Vietnam, China, and Korea.
Among the highlights of the trip include the Cultural Appreciation Night, where delegates from USeP performed folk dances depicting Filipino cultures to foreign audiences, who also proudly demonstrated their traditional dances. To fully immerse in the cultures of different countries, the delegates shared the relevance of the dance, including the values embodied by each choreography.
In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of Vietnam’s biggest festivals, delegates from USeP performed in the streets. Eventually, they were invited to perform for hospital-based children, whom the delegates enthralled with their Filipino folk dance.
The Usep delegates also explored museums and historical sites.
