Top-notch speakers 2017 ICPERFSS International Conference opens
TOP-NOTCH experts here and abroad are keynote speakers of the 2017 International Conference on Physical Education, Recreation, Fitness and Sports Science (ICPERFSS) that opens today at The Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William "Butch" Ramirez joins United States Sports Academy (USSA) president and chief executive officer Dr. Thomas J. Rosandich, Malaysia's Allianze University College Medical Sciences (AUCMS) dean Dr Leonard A. De Vries and world leading sports management guru Dr. Packianathan Chelladurai of Troy University in Canada as main resource speakers of the three-day gab that expects over 300 participants.
Organizer Henry Daut, in an interview with Sun. Star Davao Tuesday, said, a total of 287 participants registered online. "But we expect over 300 because more will be signing up onsite. Some confirmed foreign delegates come from Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, United States, India, Canada and Pakistan, among others. Several participants are coming from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao."
Daut said he along with partners College of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation of Mindanao State University (MSU) and Department of Physical Education (PE) of the Ateneo de Davao University to promote sports and PE in Mindanao.
"As head of the federation in the Philippines, I wanted to bring the conference to Mindanao for the first time despite the negative publicity the island is getting," he said, adding that he is upbeat about the conference with the presence of world-class keynote speakers Ramirez, Raosandich, De Vries and Chelladurai and nine parallel session speakers who are authorities in their respective fields.
Organizers, in the event brochure, said the seminar aims "to bring together leading experts, scientists, scholars, researchers, physical educators, coaches, sports science specialists, recreation and fitness leadrs from around the world to share knowledge and expertise, research and advances in technology and exchange of experiences and best practices on various areas of physical education, recreation, health and fitness and sports science".
The PSC is among the sponsors of the event.
