R11 has 1.9M workers in 2015

THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) 11 has noted around 1.9 million, aged 15 and above, in Davao Region who are working or engaged in "gainful activities" based on 2015 Census of Population (Popcen).

Data obtained from PSA 11 stated the region had 3,289,112 household population aged 15 and over in 2015. Almost three in every five persons or 57.7 percent of the total were engaged in gainful activity on the one-year preceding the census.

By major occupation group, workers engaged in elementary vocations comprised the largest group with 26.4 percent of the total gainfully active persons followed by agricultur­al with 20.1 percent and service and sale with 14 percent.

Others are plant and machine operators and assemblers (10.3 percent), craft and related trade workers (7.2 percent), managers (7.2 percent) , clerical support workers (5.3 percent), profession­als (five percent), technician and associate profession­als (3.9 percent), and in the armed forces (0.3 percent).

Here are the record of

gainful workers and their genders - elementary occupation­s with 500,663 (363,677 males and 136,986 females); skilled agricultur­al 381,728 workers (341,266 males and 40,462 females); service and sales with 264,746 workers (127,458 males and 137,288 females);

plant and machine operators/assemblers with 196,113 ( 191,499 males and 4,614 females); craft and related trade workers with 137,376 (123,472 males and 13,904 females); managers with 136,211 (55,678 males and 80,533 females); clerical support workers with 100,804 (43,646 males and 57,158 females); profession­als with 95,584 (33,735 males and 61,849 females); technician and associate profession­als with 74,353 (41,980 males and 32,363 females); and armed forces occupation with 5,522 (5,370 males and 152 females).

"There were also 4,045 who had not worked, 1,463 are males and 2,582 are females."

PSA also noted that of the household population 15 years old and over, 6,907 persons or 1.9 percent were overseas workers. Overseas workers aged 25 to 29 years made up the largest age group with 22.2 percent of the total workers.

There were 62,907 overseas workers 15 years old and over by highest grade/year completed last August 2015.

Other overseas workers aged 30 to 34 years, comprised 21.7 percent; and 35 to 39 years old with about 18.0 percent.

Popcen was completed by the PSA in August 2015 as mandated by the Republic Act 10625 or The Philippine Statistics Act of 2013.
