Seized prohibited items almost 1,000

SOME 1,000 prohibited items were confiscate­d by the security officers in various cemeteries in Davao region during the two- day observance of Undas 2017.

Based on Police Regional Office ( PRO 11) monitoring on the Observance of All Saints' and All Souls' Day 2017, as of 2 p. m. Thursday, November 2, they have confiscate­d 936 prohibited items in cemeteries.

These include 307 lighters, 21 of bottles of beer, three bottles of Tanduay, six bottles of island mixers, 19 bolos, 12 scis- sors, 108 grass cutters, 55 blades, 68 cutting tools, 69 packs of cigarettes, 48 sticks of cigarettes, six hammers, five butanes, 33 gallons of paint, 31 paints and 17 speakers.

Also recovered were one garden tool, one saw, 11 screw drivers, three star screws, eight trowels, four steels ( foot size), one chisel, six matches, 72 umbrellas, one guitar, one lawn mower, eight knives, one steel tape, one playing cards, five ball pens and three scythes.

PRO 11 spokespers­on Police Chief Inspector

Andrea dela Cerna said they have strengthen­ed their police monitoring as well as security measures in different cemeteries region- wide to ensure the safe observance of Undas since there is a large volume of people going to cemeteries to visit their departed loved ones.

Just like their yearly activity, they installed a total of 239 assistance hubs manned by 93 police commission­ed officers ( PCOs) and 1,720 police noncommiss­ioned officers ( PNCOs).

The Davao City Police Office ( DCPO) establishe­d 40 AHs to assist the public and entertain their concerns covering the 58 cemeteries in the city.

Aside from police presence in the premises of the cemeteries, PRO 11 has also deployed 246 road safety marshalls with 16 PCO and 230 PNCOs.

Meanwhile, Dela Cerna said that there were no significan­t nor untoward events that transpired during Undas.
