Unit 6 tops volleyball tournament

UNIT 6 emerged champion in the justconclu­ded 1st Royal Mandaya Cool Volley Tournament held at the Fr. Martinez Sports Complex in Ateneo de Davao University ( Addu) Matina Campus.

The Unit 6 grade school girls secured the title after humbling twice- to- beat Unit 4, 2513, 25- 22 and 25- 18, 25- 12, respective­ly.

The volleybell­es leaned on the services of most valuable player ( MVP) Katharina Charlize Espero and double medalist Irina Glenne Escandor who romped away with the best scorer and best blocker honors.

The rest of the individual awardees: Klarisse Canicer of Unit 6 ( best attacker), Rosmar Jelin Evangelio of Unit 6 ( best blocker), Fenzest Leigh Gaelon of Unit 4 ( best setter), Maria Carmela Obcena of Unit 6 ( best server) and Chloe Alesandra Tonzo of Unit 6 ( best defender).

Unit 6 grade school boys team, for its part, survived a three- set championsh­ip game over Unit 4, 25- 14, 25- 18, 25- 20, to annex the grade school boys title.

Arnei Luis of Unit 6 was hailed MVP while special awards were also given to Argel De Vera of Unit 6 ( best scorer), Jayrad Adeva of Unit 6 ( best attacker), Zeth Lara of Unit 6 ( best server), Andrei Amaneo of Unit 6 ( best server) and Emman Miguel Flores of Unit 4 ( best defender).

Unit 6 secured the High School boys title over Addu Blue Knights, 25- 13, 25- 13, who settled for the runner- up instead.

High- flying Jaycon Adeva was named MVP and best attacker even as Wency Adlao ( best scorer), Joshua Valderosa ( best blocker), Nathaniel Chris Hipolito ( best setter), Onyl Canson ( best server) and Rysell Villarte ( best defense) also claimed individual awards.

In the distaff side, Unit 6 demolished Unit 3, 25- 6, 25- 7, to capture the High School girls title.

Katrina Bl an co copped the MVP title while teammates Sam Castillone­s ( best scorer), Yvana Sulit ( best blocker and best server), Takako Fujimoto ( best setter), and Keanna Adlao ( best defender) also shared the limelight.

Geezel May Tsunashima of Unit 8, meanwhile, was named best attacker in the event presented by The Royal Mandaya Hotel in partnershi­p with Davao Volleyball Associatio­n.
