Usep prepares for ISO 9001:2015 certification
IN preparation for the transition to ISO 9001:2015, the University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) conducted a seminar and workshop on Documentation Process and Risk Management on November 7-8, 2017 at the Usep Social Hall, Obrero Campus, Davao City.
Usep, currently ISO 9001:2008 certified, aims to further improve the quality of its management system in its quest to become a premier university in the Asean region.
In his discussion, Kevin T. Castillon, ISO Auditor and Head for the Business Development Operations for Visayas and Mindanao of AJA Registrars, Inc., said that aside from the modifications in structure, the 2008 and 2015 versions have differences.
He emphasized that ISO 9001:2008 focuses on top management level while the ISO 9001:2015 is about managing and identifying risks.
“We can only identify risks if we have an understanding of our organization. You really have to understand the context of Usep,” Castillon said.
Aside from Usep officials, representatives from different offices in the University also participated in the two-day seminar-workshop.
University President Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, in her welcome address, thanked the Usep community for their loyalty to the University and their achievements, particularly their performance in activities that promote internationalization.
“This particular event is part of the change we want to achieve,” Dr. Generalao underscored.
Last September 29, Usep also held a Quality Management System (QMS) Awareness Seminar on ISO 9001:2015. USEP PR
