Sara: DPWH has until Nov. 30 to fully open Diversion Road

-

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio has given Department of Public Works and Highways until November 30 to ensure that the two lanes along Diversion road (Carlos P. Garcia Highway corner Maa to Bangkal) will be opened to the public 24 hours.

“Ang deadline sa DPWH from the start was November 30. So wala pa man ang deadline ‘no, so we will see after November 30, DPWH will advise us and what they will say kung na-complete na ba or nahuman naba ang kinahanglan trabahuon sa landslide area sa diversion road (The deadline of the DPWH from the start was November 30, so wala pa namang deadline so we will see after November 30. DPWH will advise us on what they will say if they have already completed the necessary rehabilitation in the landslide area at Diversion road),” she said.

Since November 6, 2017, the diversion road is only passable to light vehicles from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. to give way to clearing operations.

Last November 4, a

landslide again triggered a temporary closure of Diversion Road particularly at the landslideprone area, Old Dumpsite, after boulders fell from the top.

The City Information Office advised all the vehicles going north to pass by McArthur Highway while the trucks and other heavy vehicles are advised to use the Maa Road going to Carlos P. Garcia. Only light vehicles can also proceed from Maa to Shrine Hills while trucks are advised to take the Maa Road going McArthur Highway. KVC
