NPA kills baby, cop

MANILA - A 4-monthold baby and a policeman were killed while six other persons were injured after suspected members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) ambushed a police vehicle in Bukidnon Thursday afternoon, November 9.

Superinten­dent Lemuel Gonda, Police Regional Office 10 spokespers­on, said an undetermin­ed number of suspected communist rebels fired at a Philippine National Police (PNP) mobile car along Kilometre 28, Barangay Tikalaan, Talakag, Bukidnon around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

A gray Toyota Fortuner carrying three civilians, which was also traversing the said road, was also hit by gunfire. Passengers Ali Citi, Ali Aminsalam and Alexander Maniscan were injured.

Gonda identified the fatalities as Machorao Malysha and Senior Police Officer 3 Arnel Carillo.

Others injured were on board the police car. They are Inspector Joven Acuesta, chief of Bombaran Municipal Police Station in Lanao del Sur; Senior Police Officer 1 Pacifico Cabudoy; and Police Officer 1 Nathaniel Ibal.

The injured victims were brought to hospitals in Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City and are in stable condition.
