ANOTHER police officer was killed yesterday morning by alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA).

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Police Senior Inspector (PSI) Ma. Teresita Gaspan identified the victim as Police Officer (PO3) Wilfredo Bansag Garol Jr, 34, married and a resident of Rubber Village in Calinan, Davao City and currently assigned at Baguio Police Station (PS11).

He was shot to death by unidentified assailant yesterday at around 7:45 a.m. in Purok 5, Sitio Luman, Barangay New Valencia, Tugbok Dist, Davao City.

Garol sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body, resulting to his instantaneous death.

According to the police report, the victim accompanied his wife, who is a teacher, to school and when he came back driving his XRM black motorcycle, two unidentified male persons hitched a ride on his driven motorcycle and upon arrival at the place he was shot several times. The suspects cart-

ed away his service firearms and motorcycle.

The suspects immediately scampered to an unknown direction.

Police Regional Office (PRO 11) regional director Police Chief Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan condemned another attack of their personnel.

“I condemn the senseless and cowardly attack and killing of PO3 Wilfredo Garol by suspected LAGs. He was a good public servant, police officer and loving husband,” he said.

Gaerlan claimed that the suspects are part of the liquidation team of the New People’s Army (NPA) assigned to assassinate men in uniform which is a clear manifestation of their total disregard to human rights. JCR (For full story visit www.sunstar.com.ph/davao/)
