Significance of International Children’s Month

-

OUR Children Our Future is the heading of one feature article in our paper. This happens to be one of my favorite theme in most of my former columns. Thus I write about the core ideas worth elaborating as first in significance home and family with love, discipline, cooperation, and charity abide. Knowledge of God and Faith is imperative. Population rapid increase and family planning is a vital factor.

Natural Family Planning is the Church accepted, most easily understood, moral, and based on a loving attitude of husband and wife. Contraceptives, on the contrary, costs a lot and have side effects. Natural family planning as practiced is based on one statement - “I can feel it.”

Husband and wife sit together to record events happening in the wife’s body. This method is called the Billings method or Ovulation method. The couple needs calendars and colored markers. This is based on the most typical 28 days ovulation cycle. The days when the wife has menstruation are marked with red pen. This is from 5 to 6 days. Everyday wife records the discharge from her vagina. The thick white pasty discharge is called ‘white mense’. Mark it (SW). This is like the white jelly of a raw egg. Place SW on these days. Husband observes this. Then the wife sees a thin white watery discharge which usually hangs out like a pendulum. This is the most important phase. Observe this for three days. The middle of this three days is the most fertile day. Mark it (PFD). This means peak fertile day. For sure the wife will conceive on this day if fertilized by sperm. The 2 days on the sides are also fertile days. Here on the day before peak day you will have a male baby; on the other side you will have a female baby. If the couple does not want to have a baby yet then do not have sexual intercourse on this day. Cooperation between husband and wife is imperative. Abstain, no romantic acts; get out and exercise instead. All the unmarked days in your calendar, you are free to have sexual intercourse. Then the next menstruation days occur. Keep repeating the markings on your calendar as above. After sometime this becomes your Natural Family Planning routine.

Over population is a great disadvantage for a country. This is true in rural poor families’ homes. Enter such a place; you will think there is ‘a children’s factory’ in its midst. The greatest challenge in the city according to Mayor Sara is the threat of parents on drugs will have children to take drugs also. She would like to prevent this so she encourages drug addicts to enter rehabilitation centers.

All the children must be educated. The mayor sees to it that all of the children must enrol in public schools where everything is free. Special lessons on learning how to read were done already. They are provided with a library and textbooks lent to them. Private schools have their own policies. They charge tuition fees. The K to 12 basic education plan is still followed so they have junior and senior year plans where techvoc is offered. The kids can have jobs to earn a living. Some can opt for further university studies it they want it. There must be schools for the urban citizens. The Deped sees to it the indigenous groups of which there are 12 tribes will have a curriculum to meet their customs and traditions needs. All students must learn how to read and write then think and solve problems.

All of these significant goals of the International Children’s Month can be achieved if all these are done. For comments text mobile no. 09202112534.
