Digos teacher is Ulirang Guro
CITING the teachers’ immense role in transforming the lives of the learners and recognizing the values of hard work, dedication, and sacrifices of teachers to improve the quality of life of the students, Manila Teachers’ Savings and Loan Association Inc. (MTSLAI) awarded the Mindanao Region winner of the 2017 Search for Ulirang Guro at Pambansang Ulirang Guro, November 6, 2017 at Cultural Center, Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte.
This year’s Mindanao Region winner is from Digos City Division, Dr. Tito M. Endrina of Ramon Magsaysay Central Elementary School.
“Looking back, I only dreamed of being hired as a public school teacher. But today I received recognition as the regional winner of this search, which I thought is exponentially less likely to happen,” Endrina said.
Being the regional winner, Endrina received P30,000 cash, handed to him by the Board of Directors of MTSLAI Dr. Gil Magbanua and Dr. Buddy Arcangel; a plaque of recognition handed by Dr. Winnie E. Batoon, the Schools Division Superintendent of Digos City Division; and a lei handed by Dr. Joan Niones and Analiza Almazan, Education Program Supervisors.
Endrina will be competing with the Luzon and Visayas winners.
“This search is not so much focused on the instructional competence of teachers, but it recognizes their sacrifices essential in the transformation of the lives of the learners,” Arcangel said.
During the awarding, Dr. Arcangel explained the mechanics of the search and recognized the winner’s laudable accomplishments in terms of transforming the lives of his learners.
“Manila Teachers Party List will continue to bring the voice of the teachers in the hallways of the Congress and vows to continue to promote their interest,” wrote Virgilio S. Lacson, Manila Teachers Party List Representative, as read by Dr. Magbanua.
The 2017 Search for Ulirang Guro at Pambansang Ulirang Guro aims to recognize the sacrifices of teachers in educating the Filipino youth. This is the second year of the awards.
