Ancajas' fight with Belfast native ends in 6th-round TKO
THE "Pretty Boy" from Panabo City, Jerwin Ancajas, retained his world junior-bantamweight title over Jaime Conlan via sixth-round TKO victory Sunday morning in Belfast, Northern Ireland, while keeping his countenance undamaged and record clean.
The fight was obviously dictated by Ancajas after connecting a solid left that was followed by body blow that was believed to be nil until the Belfast native was dropped to his knees from an aftershock.
The Filipino continued to devastate Conlan in front of his fellowTHE Irish, dropping the latter in the second, third and fourth round before the referee, Steve Gray, stopped the fight in the sixth round to give Ancajas his third-straight successful title defense since 2016.
The 25-year-old Anjacas celebrated another win to add up on his former 27-1 with 1 draw record.
Ancajas had his second title defense in Brisbain, Australia last July against Teiru Kinoshita of Japan in an undercard match of the "Battle of Brisbane" wherein the fighting senator Manny Pacquiao bowed against Australian Jeff Horn.
"Maraming salamat po una kay God na nagbigay ng lakas at panalo sa laban ko at sa mga tao pong (nagdarasal para) sa laban. Maraming maraming salamat po," Ancajas said in his Facebook post, hours after he retained his WBO title.
