3rd Mountain-Trail set in Samal, Dec 2

THE 3rd Mountain-Trail Ultra in Mindanao dubbed as "The Punisher 50" will kick off on Saturday, December 2, at the Marex Beach Resort, Babak in Island Garden City of Samal.

Race director Doi Calbes, in a Facebook interview with Sun.Star Davao, said the race features 50 miles (80km), 50 kilometers and 25K categories.

"Trail routes are engineered to capture the most amazing scenic view of this island (IGACOS). Mountains, trailporn, peaks, ridges, rocks, cliffs, beaches, blue waters, waterfalls, and spring, all in one race -The Punisher 50," Calbes said.

As of yesterday presstime, 186 registered in the race.

"There are three runners from the United States of America (USA), two from Malaysia, one from United Kingdom (UK), one from Norway (the founder of Asia Trail Master), then we have two foreign sponsors Truestart Coffee coming from Malaysia," he said, adding that there are also runners from other cities like Ifugao, Makati, Valenzuela, Caloocan, Mutinlupa, Quezon Province, Cavite, Boracay, Iloilo, LapuLapu, Toledo, Cebu, Davao, Bukidnon, Cagayan De Oro, Tagum, Panabo, Polomolok, Koronadal, Tacurong, Sta Cruz, General Santos, Kapalong, Mawab, Banaybanay, Lupon, Mati and Igacos.

The grueling 50 miles or 80K distance will begin at the Marex Beach Resort going to Camudmud, Lubuak, San Antonio and Mt. Anggas Mountain ridges then straight to Anggas Summit view deck passing through Tagpopongan, Aundanao, Canibad Shoreline, Mt. Puting Bato Peak, Tagbay Crossing with Hagimit Waterfalls as the turning point and back to origin.

The 50K race will jumpstart at Marex Beach Resort then will pass through barangays Camudmud, Lubuak, San Antonio passing Mt. Anggas mountain ridges, Anggas Summit view deck, Tagpopongan, Aundanao as the turning Point and versa.

Meanwhile, the 25K event will start at the Marex Beach Resort going to Camudmud, Libuak, San Antonio and back to origin.
