DCWD urged to identify protective water buffer

-

DAVAO City Councilor lawyer Victorio U. Advincula Jr. urged Davao City Water District (DCWD) to issue and identify protective water buffer to secure enough water for the city.

"If you do not use water conservatively, it will come to the level that there will be nothing left, it is high time that the DCWD will have water protective water buffer to tell you the maximum amount of water that the area can offer," Advincula told reporters during the weekly edition of Pulong-pulong ni Pulong yesterday morning at the Councilor's Lounge of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building.

Advincula added that the Council needs the information to have "semblance and control over our water resources".

He added that the request for a protective buffer was already raised by Davao City Councilor lawyer Jesus Joseph Zozobrado.

He said the identification of protective buffer is crucial especially now that there is a boom of development in Davao City.

Advincula, chair for subcommittee on housing and subdivision development under P.D 220 (medium-end projects), said they already made the manifestation to the DCWD by way of formal request.

"We told them to do this in a semblance of a formal request. If they continue to be stubborn about this it may reach the national government," he said.

He added that they do not have any power to compel the water utility provider to release their request as it is an independent agency and that they can only make formal request on the matter. KVC
