ML extension to help in drug ops: Pdea 11
THE regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea 11) said the extension of Martial Law will help in deterring the transport of illegal drugs in the region due to the stringent measures at the checkpoint beyond visuals.
Pdea 11 regional director Retired Police Senior Superintendent Antonio Rivera said during the AFP-PNP Press Corps Forum at The Royal Mandaya Hotel yesterday that it is expected that more security forces will be deployed on the ground to conduct static and random checkpoints.
The measure will trigger apprehension on the part of the illegal drug coddlers to transport the illegal substance for fear that they might undergo thorough inspection since troops will no longer just perform visual inspection but are also authorized to request the drivers to open their compartment to see the content of their
vehicle.
“This will naturally create fear sa mga tao na gustong gumawa ng masama especially those who transport illegal drugs here,” Rivera said.
He added, “They will be afraid na baka along the way they will be intercepted during the conduct of checkpoints and the operation Kapkap carried out by security forces.”
The people will also feel safer because more troops and additional police will be visible on the ground to ensure public security not only at checkpoints.
“It is very advantageous. It will create a sense of security and safety bit for the few who would create the it would also cause anxiety and fear sa ilaha [criminals],” he said.
