MOA for SSS coverage for job orders ok'd

THE 18th Davao City Council yesterday passed on third and final reading an ordinance giving legislative authority to the city government of Davao to ink a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Social Security System (SSS) for the coverage of contractual and job order personnel under the city government.

Based on the draft of the MOA, the SSS and the city government shall agree to give full support to the compulsory coverage of contractual and job order personnel under the social security law.

The expanded SSS self-employed program mandates that contractual and job order employed in the government but not covered under the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) should have protection against hazards of disability, sickness, maternity, old age, death, and other contingencies that SSS offers

The monthly SSS conMANILA tributions and salary loan amortization will be automatically deducted from the salaries and wages of contractual and job order personnel.

According to the agreement, the city government will remit all the contributions and loan amortizations to the SSS on or before the 10th day of the month.

The registration or membership to the SSS of any contractual or job order personnel will be

voluntary. But the SSS will conduct free seminars or presentations to contractual and JO personnel on the importance and benefits of the SSS membership.

According to the draft of the MOA, the city government and the SSS will ensure that they will perform their obligations in accordance with the implementing guidelines of the agreement.
