Hungry Ape wins 3X3 cage title

FINALLY, the Hungry Ape clinched its first title of the year after posting a pulsating win over the Purple Health Hub, 30-26, in the finals of Basketball Avenue 3x3 Amateurs Game held at the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Activity Center over the weekend.

The Hungry Ape, led by Kevin Tan, participated in three different leagues this year including the first season of Basketball Avenue, DMA Farms and Court Aces Challengers League, but unfortunately couldn't get enough of what they were longing for - a title. But thanks to Jericho Bolo who sank six beyond-the-arc two-pointers and the paint dominance of Alfred Samantilla to keep the Purple Health Club at bay all throughout the game.

Ebony Dolino and Ian Maniago compensated for Tan's absence on the court with their tight defense.

The Hungry Ape sported a 4-2 card in the eliminations to arrange a quarterfinals match wtih Team Mars.

Hunrgy Ape defeated Team Mars, 30-20, to set up a semifinals clash against Aduana Bros whom they routed, 30-20.

Tan thanked his teammates and their supporters, also citing the unending support of team owner Compostela Valley Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy.

Meanwhile, the Aduana Bros crushed Earpz Eat and Chill, 30-18, to place third in the event bankrolled by Cherrylume, Mark Anthony Construction and Supply, Mafs Customs Brokerage, Penongs and Bonchon.

The event was sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
