-

THE third year Doctor of Education Major in Educational Management students of University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) Obrero campus embarked on a country visit to Thailand on November 29 to December 3, 2017. This visit is the highlight of the Comparative Education (EDD 319) subject.

“The main objective of the subject is to examine the education in one country or group of countries by using data and insights drawn from practices and situations in another country,” said Dr. Edna Jalotjot, professor of Comparative Education class and Director of the Office of Public and International Affairs.

With this, the Graduate Students visited and observed the practices and school culture of Suan Dusit University, La-or Uris Demonstration School (Kindergarten, Primary and Special Education Division), ThaiSingapore International School, and Streesmutprakan High School.

“It was an enriching activity. We get to understand how the education in Thailand prepared their students for the Asean integration and further become global citizens. We are also able to look into how our own education is compared to our neighbors. We hope that the partnership Usep has with Suan Dusit University will help both schools in improving the quality of education,” said Vun Leeu Ween Q. Romerde, president of the class.

Aside from this study tour, the group also had a cultural exposure to promote understanding of the Thai way of life through visits to Grand Palace, Floating Market, Chang Puak Elephant Camp and Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo where the group had an up close and personal encounter with elephants—the most important animal in Thai culture.

This group of graduate students is composed of Deogracias Bangay, Cherrie Ann Bohol, Jan Adrian Boiser, Flora May Cadungog, Michelle Nena Curada, Ma. Lorelie de Guzman, Vun Leeu Ween Romerde, Diane Mae Ulanday, and Desiree Victorino. USEP PR
