BATCH 92 ASSUMPTION REWIND

-

The alumni of Assumption College of Davao, formerly Assumption School of Davao (ASD), held its 2017 Grand Alumni Homecoming dubbed as “#Assumption Rewind” on December 8, 2017, 6:00 P.M. at the SMX Convention Center, with ASD Batch ’92 as its host. It was attended by graduates of the said school from 1961 until 2017, as well as former and present administrators and teachers, and the Missionaries of the Assumption. The tokens for former teachers were given by Batch ‘92 which include teddy bears, dolls, and personalized chocolates.

Included in the highlights of the event was the tribute given to Batch ’67, the Golden Jubilarians. The attendees also enjoyed the 70’s fashion show of Batch 71, the performances of Batches ’84 and ’92, and the medley of dances from the 60s to 90s presented by the dance troupes of Junior High School and Senior High School.

The raffle draw of cash prizes amounting to P25,000 and grand prizes of flat screen TV, oven, and refrigerator, made the night more exciting. Mr. Roderick Lo, Batch 92 Chairperson, Ways & Means Committee headed the awarding of raffle prizes.

“Brown Sugar Band” rocked the house with a string line of throwback songs that will make you feel like an energetic teenager once again and also enjoyed the party music by DJ Kevin Rage of Magic 89.1. The event was hosted by Davao’s premier standup comedian, the Divalicious, “Yuki Almazan” and Love Guru, and Author of best-selling books, “Parang Kayo Pero Hindi,” and “Buti Pa ang Roma May Bagong Papa.”

The homecoming was headlined by Ariel Rivera, during the height of his singing career in the 90’s, Ariel was tagged as the new Kilabot ng Kolehiyala. The alumni were all thrilled and delighted when the singeractor serenaded them with his signature songs. Undoubtedly, he still got one of the most distinct voices in the local music industry, plus the charm he exudes on stage seems not to cease over the years.

Judge Cheryll Ann C. Chamen-Paronda, the President of ASD Batch ’92 turned over the key of responsibility to Ms. Judith Alorro-Aretano, the head of ASD Batch ’93 and host of next year’s Alumni Homecoming.

Welcome remarks and closing message were delivered by Dr. Susan Abrina (President, ACD Alumni Association Batch 82) and Ms. Janet Mendiola- Lupoz (Mindanao Development Authority Undersecretary), closed the event.

The affair was more than just a gathering of alumni. Part of the proceeds raised from the event will go to ACD’s Grade School Extension Program for Lumad Children in Toruyan, Marilog District, Davao City and the Lumad Students of the Assumption Interfaith Academy Foundation, Inc. in Paquibato District, Davao City.

As an Assumptionista, the event has even made all of us reminisce with the realization that our alma mater has honed us for what we become right now. Because at the end of the day, we have pondered that life gave us brief moments with another. But sometimes in those brief moments, we get memories that last a lifetime. It was a complete rewind experience for Assumptionistas!
