Accreditation needed to offer drug rehab package

-

THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) urged health institution and those drug rehabilitation and treatment centers in the region to be an accredited provider of Medical Detoxification Package.

The package is designed for Philhealth members who are drug dependents and intend to seek medical attention to get away from illegal substances.

PhilHealth 11 public relations officer 2 Kleah Gayle Dublin said on Wednesday that since the launching of their detox package in December 2016, they have not rolled it out yet as the accreditation is still ongoing and they are in the process of coordinating with other health institutions that are qualified to be accredited by their office.

“Sa ngayon wala pang naka avail or naka benefit ng drug detox natin na package primarily because we are also in the process of coordinating with our hospitals na magpaaccredit,” Dublin said.

The program was introduced in support to the thrust of the national government against use of illegal drugs. However, she clarified that it will cover the first stage or the first line of treatment for drug dependents excluding the rest of the rehabilitation.

The packaged is pegged at P10,000, which covers the admission and doctor’s fee as well as diagnostic test and the medicine needed by the patients. All the Philhealth members and dependents could avail in this program subject to doctor’s evaluation.

Before a health care institution would qualify as an accredited provider, they must have the capability of providing the needed services for drug dependents and they have available physicians to

administer the treatment for the patients.

“They need to meet the minimum requirements for giving this kind of service itong detox. We are working on it ang ginagawa natin is kailangan nilang mag comply. On the part of the Philhealth, we encourage them to be an accredited provider,” she added.

She added, “We need them to comply and we need them of course to signify their intention to provide this package of Philhelath para po mabigay na sa members.”
