Most competitive Tagum City ranks first on five major competitiveness awards
DAVAO CITY — Tagum City proved anew that it is truly the top performing component city of Davao Region as it was declared first on five competitiveness awards during the 1st Regional Competitiveness Awards
Tagum bagged multiple awards including the highly-coveted Over-all Top Performing Component City.
The four pillars of the competitiveness index are Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, and Resiliency— all of which Tagum were awarded to Tagum as the Top Performing Component City in the whole region on all pillars.
It is indeed a great Christmas gift to the local government of Tagum given by the Regional Competitiveness Council, according to Mayor Allan L. Rellon who was elated to receive the said awards which completes the awards harvest season of the City Government of Tagum for 2017.
The awarding ceremony was held last Monday, December 18 at Grand Regal Hotel, Lanang, Davao City.
The ranking was based on the National Competitiveness Council of the Philippines and was presented by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
This great feat can be attributed to the rise of Tagum on the 3rd spot during the nationwide competitiveness ranking last August 16, 2017. The city also landed on 2nd and 4th spot on Infrastructure and Resiliency pillars, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Top Performing Municipality was awarded to Sulop, Davao del Sur for the 6th to 3rd class municipality and Compostela, Compostela, Valley for the 2nd to 1st class municipality category.
Likewise, Davao del Norte was hailed as the Top Performing Province of Region XI. Ziyarah Manalo/ CIO Tagum
