1ST CHAMPIONSHIP Macs beat rival in DMA Farms cagefest

-

AFTER three seasons of chase, the Mark Anthony Construction and Supply (Macs) tasted its first championship title at last after beating the determined Three Seven Equipment Rental 87-72, in the finals of the DMA Farms League held at the Montaña Gym Wednesday evening.

Team owner Poblacion 10-A captain Mark Anthony Cayetano said they considered the win as redemption from their lost bid against the Spartans in the championship last season.

"We are happy that we were able to win the title after three seasons," said Cayetano.

In a separate interview, Coach Balot Celiz, said the key players were able to perform their role that paved the way for their victory.

"We tried to dominate the paint. Though there were some lapses but they did a great job executing," Celiz said on his athletes.

Kirk Blanco played a pivotal role in the finals and finished with game high 23 points on top of four rebounds, two assists and two steals to romp away with the most valuable player (MVP) award.

Reggie Rivera added 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Janjan Maglasang also took flight on the defensive end and sealed 13 rebounds and four blocks all throughout the game.

The thought that Macs will easily finish it off because of their 61-55 lead at the end of the third period, but the hard-fighting Three Seven ignited a rally behind the firepower of Joem Morada and Tony Suaybaguio, to go on the latter’s favor, 65-64.

However, Macs didn't just allow everything they worked to fall into pieces as they recovered and stacked their lead to 73-65, forbidding their nemesis to answer through their great defense and paint DMA FARMS PHOTO dominance.

At exactly 3 minutes and 21 seconds in the final frame, Blanco completed a four-point opportunity after being followed from a wild three point attempt, putting completely Three Seven at bay.

From there, Macs dictated the game though the Three Seven tried to launch a final surge but it was just too late.

Morada and Suaybaguio drilled an identical 21 points for Three Seven's respectable runner up finish.

The event is organized by DMA Farms in partnership with Alibaba and Auto Mafia. ABM
