PRO 11: Practice discernment in sharing unverified reports
THE Police Regional Office (PRO 11) directly dismissed another text message circulating online about another bombing attack in identified areas in Davao City, reminding the public to practice discernment in sharing unverified reports that will only trigger panic among the public.
“Yang mag ganyang klaseng mga messages, we’ve been receiving that siguro itong buong taon na ito may mag umiikot na po na mga ganyang text message we just want to inform the public that pag hindi po nanggaling sa amin yong advisory, huwag na po nilang ikalat yong messages,” PRO 11 spokesperson Andrea dela Cerna said yesterday.
She said that if they receive such report and is not validated, it must not be shared at all. The public should only listen to the warnings of authorities.
A text circulating online warned Dabawenyos that terrorists plan to bomb crowded places including Abreeza, SM Lanang, San Pedro Church, terminals, Bankerohan Public Market, Gaisano Mall, and Matina Crossing on Monday but authorities belied this, citing that they have not received such
information based on their intelligence monitoring.
Dela Cerna said that the public has nothing to worry as this is only a hoax but still reminded them to exercise vigilance all the time.
“Definitely ang mga gumagawa niyan yan po ang mas nkakapagkalat ng terror sa taong bayan. Mas tinatakot po tayo sa ganyang paraan. But definitely Davao region is definitely peaceful,” she said.
If there are reports of such threats, she assured that they will immediately inform the public.
“Wala po tayong mga inaannounce na mga ganyan and then definitely sa atin po manggagaling kung meron confirmation and we will alert the public immediately if in case we have validated those kind of information already,” Dela Cerna said.
Meanwhile, she said that security forces are on top of the security situation here.
