Sara not surprised being in Magic 12

-

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio said she was not surprised that her name was included in the Senator Survey list in 2017.

“It is not new to me. My name was also on the senator survey list in 2012,” she said in a statement yesterday.

This after the mayor’s name was included in

the list of re-electionists and returning senators for the May 2019 senatorial elections.

According to an article released by Rappler, an online media outlet, last Wednesday, the mayor joined the Magic 12 in surveys conducted by separate polling firms, Social Weather Stations (SWS) in December 2017 and Laylo Research Strategies in November 2017.

In line with this, the city mayor said that she is grateful for the support, however, she still believes that what she had done is part of her responsibility as a Dabawenyo.

“Thank you to those who gave their support, but I still believe that being a responsible Dabawenyo, whether in public office or as a practicing lawyer, is my contribution to nation building. If Davao City is strong, then that is the Dabawenyos' patriotism at work,” she said.

She added that detractors of the President Rodrigo Duterte should not torment her too much or else she will give the slot to all the yellows.

“Huwag lang ako inisin ng mga kalaban ni PRD then my slot should become available to all the yellows,” she said.

Duterte-Carpio first gained national attention in 2011 when she punched a court sheriff who was trying to implement a demolition order covering an urban settlement in Davao City.

She also received quite public attention when she shaved her head to support her father’s presidential bid.

In the previous year, she stayed in the public eye defending her father from his critics. KVC
