Quartering starts for city athletes

DAVAO City athletes who are seeing action in the Davao Region Athletic Associatio­n (Davraa) Meet 2018 will start training and quartering on January 2017 at the Mabini Elementary School.

Elementary boys badminton coach Noel Sanchez of Subasta Elementary School bared this during a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao yesterday.

Sanchez said they need a month's training to expect good results in the upcoming regional meet slated February 17 to 23.

"Hinihingan po kami ng training matrix pati dietary plan for our athletes," he said, citing the full support of the Department of Education (Deped) Davao City Division, inspiring them to aim for gold in the regional meet that will serve as a qualifier for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2017 set in May in Vigan.

The elementary boys team is composed of Aaron Dominic Recomes of Ateneo de Davao University (Addu), Peter Gabriel Arendain of Sped Bangkal, Joshua Alquizar and Denmark Anding of Subasta Elementary School with assistant coach Letecia Aplicador Subasta Elementary School.

The elementary girls badminton team, meanwhile, is bannered by Achbbel Celine Baguio of University of Immaculate Concepcion (UIC), Myzsa Julia Marie Yu of Stella Maris Academy (Smad), Eruelle Claire Rivera and Mich Myza Dagatan of Subasta Elementary School with coaches Carlo Fuerzas of Smad, Sanchez and chaperon Cyd Cheryll Rivera of Subasta Elementary School.

Meanwhile, Palarong Pambansa veteran Karylle Kaye Molina of Talomo National High School (TNHS) will beef up the high school girls team of Addu's Jennifer Saladaga, Julie Mae Gimena of the Philippine Womens College (PWC) and Jullia Ysabelle of Philippne Science High School (PSHS) with coach Aura Vega.

Smad's Clou Joseph Bulac and Daniel Purisima along with Nick Conrad Arendain of the Precious Internatio­nal School of Davao (PISD) and Ogie Phil Raye Pardillo of PWC will comprise the secondary boys team.
