Palaro champ in city's table tennis team

-

PALARONG Pambansa 2017 gold medalist Ayesha Bonniemhe Quibol of Marilog National High School (MNHS) will reinforce the Davao City paddlers when the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet table tennis tournament will unfurl on February 17 at the San Pedro College (SPC) here.

The veteran coach Landelino Darlo, in a phone interview with Sun. Star Davao yesterday, said he is unsure of Quibol's chance this year since she just moved up to the secondary level from grade school.

"Dili pa jud sure na ma-defend niya kay naa paman gud tong mga kusog nga player sa Panabo City," Darlo said, adding that they will give their full dedication for training during the quartering.

He also said Department of Education (DepEd) Davao City Division superintendent Ynes Asuncion would want them to train at SPC where the venue for table tennis will take place.

Darlo, however, believes that Quibol and his other players could be at par with their rivals in regional meet which will serve as the qualifier for the Palarong Pambansa 2018 set in May in the City of Vigan.

Quibol, meanwhile, will join Corrine Cartera of the University of the Immaculate Concepcion (UIC), MNHS' S Dianne Sombilon and Jessa Cris Logronio who will represent the secondary girls team.

Palaro veteran Herzel Miles Abendan of the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) will lead the secondary boys squad which is also composed of Yves Jon Buhat, Ken Luzon of Jose Maria College (JMC) and Raphael Yara of Stella Maris Academy of Davao (Smad).

Michelle Contridas and Melchora Contridas of Balite Elementary School (BES) Gevianne Lou Sorongon of Sta. Ana Elementary School (SAES) and Jessa Mae Lanzaderas of Mahayag Elementary School (MES) comprised the grade school girls team while the elementary boys is bannered by Clark Contridas of BES, Jade Rodriguez and Gerald Esguerra of MES and Kent Benedict Baladad of Catalunan Pequeño Elementary School (CPES).
