Childminding centers sought
BAGUIO - Childminding centers to help working mothers and laying in clinics for the expectant may soon rise in Baguio City.
In a proposed law by Councilor Leandro Yangot, dubbed “Providing for child minding services in the city of Baguio", lying-in clinics to take care for the time being of the children of mothers delivering babies,” better maternal and neonatal care might be underway.
The new law, when approved mandates the Baguio City Health Services Office to provide child minding services in lying-in clinics to take care for the time being of the children of mothers delivering babies.
“For the well-being of its constituents, Baguio City has implemented various health reforms aimed to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in the city. In order to improve maternal and neonatal well-being, local legislations on maternal health were enacted including an active information campaign, training health personnel and building health facilities particularly lying-in clinics in urban poor areas,” Yangot said.
The child minding services in lying-in clinics is aimed to encourage expectant mothers to deliver babies and for mothers and babies to have adequate medical care with the presence of skilled birth attendants, emergency obstetric care, when necessary, and access to family planning service.
