RB3 Spartans, Team Einra, MACS-CEO draw first blood

RB3 Spartans, Team Einra, MACS-CEO and Phenom Lifestyle drew first blood in yesterday's opener of the Cherrylume x Mark Anthony Constructi­on and Supply backed Basketball Avenue Champions League at the Rizal Memorial Colleges Activity Center.

RB3 Spartans acquired its first victory at the expense of Reef side 66-59, in the event organized by Basketball Avenue in partnershi­p with Cherrylume, Mark Anthony Constructi­on and Supply, Alibaba, the Royal Mandaya Hotel, Davao San EI Trading, Abuelos and RMC.

Joshua Lacadon paced RB3 Spartans with 21 points while Clemente Ruiz added 17 points.

Reefside, for its part, relied on the efforts of Jan Rey Lumogda who scored 20 points.

Team Einra, meanwhile, showed no mercy as they demolished the unreinforc­ed Metro Poker-Panadero 84-56.

Epe Refuerzo led Team Einra with 13 points including three beyond-thearc bombs.

Gil Bryan Remonsada sank 12 markers with his eight points coming from the get go.

Hot-handed Mark Suico tried to lift the struggling team, scoring three triples in a row and finished with nine points.

On the other hand, Maius Ryan Martinez and RB Damaolao provided the much-needed firepower in the homestretc­h to lift MACS-CEO past Cgonz Floor Studio 72-65.

Martinez topscored MACS-CEO with 17 points including 11 points in the fourth quarter.

Damaolao, for his part, delivered 16 markers to help the team secure the first win.

Cgonz Floor Studio leaned on the services of Miko Acolentava who erupted 32 points.

Phenom Lifestyle, however, escaped the hard-fighting Mafs Warriors 56-48, in a low scoring game.

Everyone in Phenom Lifestyle contribute­d but Deonne Ladao and Eric Dulay led the team, scoring 12 and 11 points, respective­ly.

The game between Goldstar versus Cherrylume and Three Seven versus Sumo Brand were still being played as of this writing.

The event is officiated by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).

On another note, Cherrylume vice president Bong Tan along with Tanduay Athletics Representa­tive Jerrold Plaza and tournament manager Aldin Celi of Alibaba Shawarma presided over the ceremonial tip off.
