NLRC 11 gets 2 new labor arbiters

THE National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) 11 welcomed this year its two newlyinstalled labor arbiters here in Davao Region.

They are Lawyers Nelia Q. Tancio-Sedillo and Rommel L. Galicia.

NLRC-Davao executive labor arbiter lawyer Elmer Ben Pasion said Sedillo and Galicia assumed their posts after two arbiters retired last July 2017.

Sedillo was assigned to NLRC-Davao last November 27.

Sedillo joined the Department of Agrarian Reforms (DAR) as an Attorney IV in Octoebr 2005, after she passed the bar exam and became a lawyer.

Sedillo also joined the Office of the Provincial Prosecution (OPP) in Davao del Sur as associate prosecution attorney.

In January 2008, she worked as clerk of court at the Office of the Clerk of Court of a Regional Trial Court (OCC-RTC) in Digos City.

And in November 2013, Sedillo returned again to OPP-Davao del Sur as Prosecutor 1 and II, respectively. And finally, in March 2016, she was appointed as labor arbiter of the NLRC. Her first assignment was in region 12.

To complete the labor arbiters in the region, Galicia took his post in January 2018. He was a practicing lawyer before he joined the NLRC. His first designation was Attorney IV, NLRC, 8th Division in Cagayan de Oro City.

Pasion said after their two labor arbiters retired last year, the task of disposing cases were left to three arbiters, including himself.

"But despite the lack of labor arbiters last year, we were able to manage to dispose a fair number of cases until the end of the fiscal year," Pasion said.

Pasion thanked the effort of their chairman Gerardo C. Nograles to quickly address the surge of incoming cases vis a vis limited number of labor arbiters.

With the new development, Pasion said, the NLRC-Davao is hopeful to continuously carry out its mission in resolving labor disputes as mandated.
