Maximum deployment to secure Davraa Meet

A MAXIMUM deployment of security personnel will be implemente­d by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) in coordinati­on with other law enforcemen­t agencies to secure the delegates of the Davao Region Athletic Associatio­n (Davraa) Meet 2018, which is slated to kick off on February 18.

Speaking during the I-Speak Forum at City Hall yesterday, DCPO spokespers­on Ma. Teresita Gaspan assured that the local police personnel in Davao City will be on top of the security situation to safeguard the participan­ts during the event.

“We have already prepared the security plan for the incoming Davraa 2018 on February 12 to 23. Meron na tayong security plan including target hardening measures to strengthen our security sa Davraa vital installati­on and facilities and equipment,” Gaspan said.

The activity is expected to gather some 8,000 delegates from different provinces in Davao region. It will open on February 18 at the University of

Mindanao in Matina and will end on February 23.

She said they also enhanced their interopera­bility in close coordinati­on with their counterpar­ts in the Armed Forces of the Philippine­s (AFP) through the Task Force Davao to effectivel­y maintain peace and order.

“We will also be utilizing the force multiplier­s like our BPATs Barangay Peacekeepi­ng Action Teams (BPATs) and police auxiliary and community public awareness and support and intensific­ation of timely informatio­n gathering,” she added. Additional augmentati­on of police personnel will also come from the Police Regional Office (PRO 11).

All the quarters where athletes will be staying will be manned and secured by law enforcers. Davao City is 95 percent ready of its 2018 Davao Region Athletic Associatio­n (Davraa) Meet as of Tuesday, February 6, according to a Department of Education (Deped) regional official said.

Deped regional sports coordinato­r Leo Asilo said validation of eligibilit­y requiremen­ts of athletes and coaches will end today.

He said the five percent includes those athletes and coaches who have not yet submitted their requiremen­ts, screening of age limit and weight categories and checking on qualified athletes).

The billeting areas, playing venues and security are all set. They recently inspected the 11 billeting quarters.

Host Davao City's delegation will stay at Mabini Elementary School where they are currently holding quarters for their Davraa training. The rest of the billeting quarters: Compostela Valley - Maa National High School; Davao del Norte - Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Senior Central Elementary School; Davao del Sur - Daniel R. Aguinaldo High School; Davao Occidental - Don Manuel Gutierrez Elementary School; Davao Oriental - Maa Central Elementary School; Digos City - Matina Central Elementary School; Island Garden City of Samal - Sta. Ana Central Elementary School; Mati City Sta. Ana National High School; Panabo City - Magallanes Elementary School; and Tagum City - San Roque Central Elementary School.

Deped technical officials, meanwhile, will be housed at the Davao City National High School.

The Incident Command Post will be at Palma Gil Elementary School while the media center will be at the Deped Davao City Division Training Center.

Davao City will defend its Davraa overall title at home turf this year. The regional meet serves as qualifying for the Palarong Pambansa. JCR with a report from
