Smart township
Megaworld's Davao Park District to feature iTownships concept
IN a bid to 'futureproof' its developments, property developer Megaworld will be implementing its iTownships concept to its first township in Mindanao, the Davao Park District, transforming it into a smart development.
Jericho P. Go, Megaworld senior vice president and head of business development and leasing group, said with the Davao Park District being classified as iTownship, it will integrate digital technology, design innovations, and connectivity into the entire development.
"Our goal is to futureprood our first township here in Mindanao. This means there will be features and facilities within the township that maximize smart innovations, use of internet, and digital lifestyle. The Davao Park District will become the 'township of the future' and we envision this to become the first smart township in Mindanao," Go said during a press briefing at Park Inn by Radisson Davao yesterday.
Under iTownships, he added that the 11-hectare township in Lanang, Davao will have fiber op-
optic-ready infrastructure; designated bike lanes and bike rental systems; LED-powered signages and digital walls; creative pedestrian crosswalks and urban art installations; LED and solar-powered streetlamps; vertical open spaces and gardens; green and art roofings; public and street Wifi access; electric car charging stations; and a Township Operations Center for 24/7 security and safety monitoring, among others.
"Currently we have a team deployed to study what else we can integrate into the Davao Park District as far as technology and innovation in real estate development are concerned," Go said.
He added that the teams are carefully studying what they can put in the development for both the immediate-term and long-term.
"From design, smart technology, mobility and connectivity, energy efficiency, as well as safety and security, we will put in place all these features to benefit those who live, work, and play in the township," Go said.
In an earlier press statement, Megaworld said the iTownships concept will 'future-proof' its developments throughout the country as they incorporate digital technology, design innovations, and connectivity into their townships.
Meanwhile, Go said they are expecting to complete within the first half of this year the 14-storey Davao Finance Center, which is the first building to be completed at the Davao Park District.
The P1.2 billion DFC, which offers 26,000 square meters (sqm.) of office spaces, will feature modern facilities especially on safety and security. Among these are Automatic Fire Suppression System, Fire detection and Alarm System, 24/7 CCTV, and communication system.
