Brgy Tagbaobo drug-free

-

ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL - Mayor Al David T. Uy signed the documents declaring Barangay Tagbaobo of Kaputian District as drug-free. The ceremonial signing was held at the City Mayor’s Conference Room on February 5, 2018, at 2 p.m.

In the morning, the Oversight Committee went to Barangay Tagbaobo to evaluate and validate the non-availability of illegal drugs supplies in the area and the absence of drug pushers and drug users.

The team proceeded and convened at the City Mayor’s Conference room for the ceremonial signing.

Barangay Tagbaobo achieved and was declared drug-cleared after passing the parameters set forth by Dangerous Drugs Board.

This is in line with the “Strengthening of the Barangay Drug Clearing program” outlined by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. It is a holistic approach that aims to curb the problem on illegal drugs in local barangays.

Three months after “Tokhang” was conducted, the barangay was re-evaluated. The City Anti-Drugs Council constantly and diligently monitored and sometimes made surprise visits, in coordination with the barangay officials.

“Ipadayon gihapon namo ang ang programa sa among barangay kontra illegal na droga. Kahibalo mi na monitoron gihapon mi, bisan gideklara nami na ang among barangay na cleared on illegal drugs.”(We will continue our barangay program against illegal drugs, even though our barangay was already declared cleared on illegal drugs), barangay secretary Rosalina Castro of Tagbaobo said.

Barangay Tagbaobo was considered as moderately affected by drugs.

Based on their classifications in determining how bad the barangay is affected with illegal drugs, barangays with drug users only were considered as slightly affected, while those barangays reported with presence of drug laboratory, marijuana plantation, drug den and other serious involvement on drug activities were considered as seriously affected.
