Love showcased in different forms

-

ABREEZA Mall has unveiled an entirely crowd-sourced display of love in its many forms to prove that Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples to celebrate.

On February 10 to 18, Abreeza Mall organized the Museum of Love, a vignette exhibition that highlights love in its many forms through memorabilia shared by members of the local community.

Abreeza Mall first launched the Museum of Love in February 2014 with members of sociocivic organization Hijos de Davao lending their special belongings to fill shoppers’ hearts with warmth and fondness.

What makes this year’s edition of the Museum of Love even more special is it includes contributions by Abreeza Mall’s Facebook followers, made possible through an online contest prior to the exhibit where followers submitted photos of their personal tokens of love.

Fourteen objects shared by Abreeza Mall’s Facebook followers and by members of Davao’s media and blogging communities made it to the Museum of Love, each accompanied by a writeup explaining the object’s significance.

As expected, items include various tokens from lovers looking back on past struggles and lovers looking forward to moments of bliss. But rounding up the collection are displays of familial love: from a mother capturing a special moment with her daughter to a daughter holding on to a mother’s gift, from a grandson reminiscing about his time with his grandmother to another grandmother overcome by pride at her own grandson, from a parent who recalls how his life was forever changed by the birth of his child to a child whose entry into the world was marked by her own father’s solid presence.

Adding welcome accompaniment to a visit to the Museum of Love were short musical serenades by instrumentalists on the weekend of the exhibit’s launch and on Valentine’s Day itself.

The Museum of Love is one of many Valentine’s offerings Abreeza Mall has lined up for Davaoeños from February 10 to 18, including a free concert by R&B queen Kyla on February 10, the Lingkod Kapamilya Bloodletting Activity in partnership with the ABS-CBN Regional Network on February 14, and the Davao Ecocrafts Fair: Love Is a Work of Heart from February 13 to 18 at the GF Supermarket Hallway.
