PALARO veteran Herzel Abendan of Davao City National High School (DCNHS) and Yves Jon Buhat of Jose Maria College (JMC) leaned on their vast experience to capture the lone gold for the Davao City table tennis team that also accounted for three silvers and three bronzes in the Davao Region Athletic Associatio­n (Davraa) Meet 2018 that closed at the San Pedro College recently.

Abendan and Buhat combined forces together to rule the secondary boys doubles event that earned them a slot to the Palarong Pambansa 2018.

Ayesha Bonniemhe Quibol, a 2017 Palarong Pambansa gold medalist from Marilog National High School (MNHS), paired with fellow-MNHS student Dianne Sombilon, fell short of gold but salvaged the silver in the secondary girls doubles event.

Corrine Cartera of the University of Immaculate Concepcion, however, bowed out in the finals to also settle for a silverin secondary girls singles.

Gevianne Lou Sorongon of Sta. Ana Elementary School (Saes) and Jessa Mae Lanzaderas of Mahayag Elementary School (MES) also won a silver in elementary girls doubles.

Sorongon, however, copped a bronze in the elementary girls singles.

Ken Luzon of JMC also took a bronze in the secondary boys singles along with Jessa Cris Logronio of MNHS in the secondary girls singles.

The table tennis team was coached by Landelino Darlo and James Masi.
