6 chessers book tickets to Vigan

SIX Dabawenyo chessers booked tickets to Vigan after their sterling feats in the recently-concluded Davao Region Athletic Associatio­n (Davraa) Meet 2018 last February 22 at the Gaisano Mall of Toril.

Wesley Jovan Magbanua of Jose Maria College (JMC), Irish Yngayo and Ryan Gabriel Rasay of Davao City Special School (DCSS) clinched golds while Blanche Ellyz Bongato of Stella Maris Academy of Davao (Smad), Lieane Faith Salajudin of (DCC) and Ateneo de Davao University (Addu)'s Marv Denzil Rubio settled for silvers in the five-round Swiss System format standard event.

Magbanua ruled the secondary boys division while Yngayo and Rasay governed the secondary girls and elementary boys divisions, respective­ly.

Bongato placed second in the secondary girls division while Salajudin's silver finish was saw in the elementary girls division.

Rubio, for his part, won the silver in the elementary division.

The six Dabawenyos will be joined by elementary girls division gold medalist Aliya Rae Lumangtad of Tagum City and Digos City's Jasper Seth Erum who seized the silvers in the secondary boys division.

In the blitz event, Billy Joel Sarno of Davao del Sur won the secondary boys division gold over Erum of Digos City and Davao City's Magbanua who settled for silver and bronze, respective­ly.

Yngayo doubled her feat as she also clinched the secondary girls gold over Mikylla Angela Gabelin of Davao del Sur and Bongato of Davao City.

Gabelin got the silver and Bongato settled with bronze instead.
