Know Davao

-

TODAY, as Sun.Star Davao has done through the years, we are coming out with a special Araw ng Dabaw supplement that tells the story of Davao City and the Dabawenyos.

These stories serve as recollections and re-telling of what Davao is made of and how it came to be. It has been an annual exercise that we have been looking forward to, just like the Kadayawan sa Dabaw special supplement, because in these supplements, we focus on the good and reinforce the pride and sense of community we share as Dabawenyos.

That is the essence of being a community news and information provider. While we keep our eyes on the bad things that are happening, may it be crime, corruption or disasters with the intent to let the readers be updated on what’s happening and how things are unfolding, we also get to know our communities and tell their individual successes and failures, celebrations and lamentations.

We do not stand as judge of what is right and what is the best above the heads of our readers, rather, we live among our people and chronicle their lives -- the good things that are worth emulating and remembering, the bad things from where lessons can be gleaned, and the issues that require our collective attention and actions.

As committed journalists, we profess to bring not just the news and information generated from a day’s work, but news and information that bring on informed decisions and actions by the people.

Today, we regale our people with stories of Davao for all of us to share and be proud of, and for all visitors to understand the city and its people better.
