The 81st Araw ng Dabaw Cycling Challenge, which was previously scheduled today, March 24, at Shrine Hills, Matina, Davao City, is moved to April 8, 2018. The event is organized by the Sports Development Division (SDD) and Citywide Cycling Association of Davao (CICAD).

Event organizer Jun Paholio, during Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao, said the postponement was due to conflict in schedule with the Ironman event this Sunday.

There will be three events for this challenge with corresponding cash prizes for the winners. For Road Bike (Individual Classification), it has five categories - Open Elite, Executive 40 years old and up, Boys 19U, Boys 15U and Womens Open, of which the champion will receive P5,000, P3,000 for 2nd placer and P2,000 for the 3rd.

In the Special Classification, however, there will have two categories: Fixed Gear (21 years old & up) and BMX (15 years old & up) with champions bringing home P3,000, while P2,000 for the 2nd place and P1,000 awaits the 3rd placer. All winners will bring home medals as well.

For the highlight of the event, the Team Classification, the champion will secure P10,000 cash prize while P5,000 and 4,000 await the 2nd and 3rd place. All of which will receive trophies. All participants are required to pay P150 for entry fee, and strictly the rule “no helmet no, ride” will be observed.

The race will start at Batong ni Ditong, Shrine Hills with two turning points at ABS-CBN Davao for BMX and Fixed Gear and in Mars Street, going back to Batong ni Ditong as the finish line.
