Japan gives fire truck, ambulances to city

THE local government of Davao received last March 23, 2018 two ambulances and one fire truck from the Japanese Government.

Davao City vice mayor Bernard Al-ag in a message to Sun.Star Davao yesterday said Davao City is among the 15 local government units (LGUs) in Mindanao that received the vehicles. The Japanese government donated a total of 20 ambulances and six fire trucks to these LGUs.

"These emergency vehicles will surely improve the services of our Central 911 operation. I thank the Japanese Government for their generosity and to our National Government for facilitating the donation," he said.

Al-ag said last Friday, he and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Eduardo Año stood as witnesses for the signing of the deed of donation between the Philippines and Japanese Government held at Boys Scout of the Philippines Camp, Malagos, Calinan, Davao City.

The deed of donation was signed by Leonard R. Bañago, chief of Bureau of Fire Protection and Koji Haneda, Ambassador of Japan.

Al-ag said the agreement will cover series of donations for the whole country, and upcoming batches of the same vehicles will arrive in the country until the end of the year.

Also given with vehicles is Tagum City. The city's mayor Allan Rellon

also attended the turn over.

On the same day, Davao city councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta represented city mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio in a luncheon meeting last Friday with the Ambassador of Japan, Año, DILG Asec. Nestor F. Quinsay, mayors and officials from other cities in Mindanao, and regional heads of Bureau of Fire Protection in Mindanao.

The gathering is in line with the turn-over Ceremony and Grant Contract Signing of the donated emergency vehicles. KVC
