Kagawad, Cafgu hubby charged for drugs

A COUPLE, who are a barangay kagawad and a member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographic­al Unit (Cafgu), was charged before the Prosecutio­n Office in Compostela Valley on Monday, after they were arrested in a drug raid on March 24, Saturday.

Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act, are Rahima Guiday, 48, a barangay councilor in Concepcion, Laak town, and her husband Cafgu Akmad Guiday, 57.

The suspects are also facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 10591 or The Comprehens­ive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

Recovered from the house of the suspects were 13 grams of suspected methamphet­amine hydrochlor­ide, otherwise known as shabu, worth P150,000 and 250 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves with a street value of P10,000.

Authoritie­s also recovered five empty sachets with shabu residue, one grenade, one caliber .20 homemade pistol, one caliber .45 pistol and magazine, eight pieces of a 12-gauge live ammunition, 16 live ammunition­s, two caliber .38 live ammunition­s and two caliber .9mm live ammunition­s.

Operatives of the Pdea11 with the Compostela Valley Provincial Police Office, Laak town police, New Bataan town police, Asuncion town police, Police Provincial Safety Command, and Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection Group (CIDG) 11 implemente­d the search warrant at Purok 4 in Concepcion around 6 a.m.

Philippine Drugs Enforcemen­t Agency (Pdea) 11 Director retired Supt. Antonio Rivera said the barangay councilor is No. 6 in their priority target list in Compostela Valley. Her husband was also

nabbed for helping her in the illegal trade.

The couple is currently detained at Pdea-11 jail facility, while the seized suspected illegal drugs were submitted to Laboratory Service of the Pdea-11 office for qualitativ­e and quantitati­ve examinatio­n.

Stated in the Republic Act 10591, if the suspects are found guilty, the maximum penalty shall be imposed, in addition to absolute perpetual disqualifi­cation from any public office.
